Billy Bob is a new addition to our carousel as of 2006. He's thought to have been made some time around 1885, which makes him the oldest figure and the newest arrival on our carousel!
Billy Bob went through a minor restoration and a complete paint job after arriving in Spokane. You can see a picture presentation of this process by Clicking Here.
Billy will serve as a spare figure for our carousel, going into service when other figures are undergoing repairs or restoration. When not in service, he'll be on display at the center of the carousel.
Billy is a prancer, meaning that he was carved to have his back feet mounted to the platform and his front feet in the air. For our use, he'll serve as a stander (mounted to the platform) when he fills in for our giraffe and tiger, and as a jumper (moves up and down on his pole) when he fills in for our horses.
