Our carousel has 54 horses (all "jumpers"), one giraffe, one tiger and 2 chariots.
The animals and chariots are arranged in three rings around the platform of the carousel. The horses are aligned in twenty rows of three abreast, with one horse in each of the outer, middle and inner rings.
The carousel is laid out symmetrically. Every even-numbered row is filled with white horses. The odd-numbered rows are color-coordinated between opposite rows (e.g. 7 and 17 are grey, 3 and 13 are black, etc.) (The table below is laid out so that each row is displayed along with its symmetric opposite row.) The exception to this rule is that rows 9 and 19 are not symmetric.
Opposite rows also match in style. For example, rows 10 and 20 are both Trojan style horses
